Milan Design Week 2014- Uni, SodaStream, Palazzo Morando, Zava Design

This April (8th-13th) Milan turned into an international design hub. During the Milan Design Week, designers, artists and architects from all over the world visited the city to share with new ideas, projects and even make their own soda ;)

My university turned into one huuuge exhibition. From 3D screenings to Scale Infinite (Endless Stair)...

My uni- Universit脿 degli Studi di Milano

Innovative furniture projects

For bookwormies :))

Apple shelf :)) I'd put 10 of them on my wall :D

I'm so glad that I study at this uni!! All the time there's something cool going on.
Did I mention that we could drink as much Lavazza coffee as we wanted? There was a coffee bar offering a free traditional Italian espresso. Even though I am not a coffee addict, I enjoyed it :) Personally I drink this beverage once or twice a year, but at that time I wanted to give it a try... maybe because I commemorate the events with the foods I am consuming... Weird. I know. But that's the way it is. I wanted to remember that time, so I went for a coffee :DD

Later that day I also visited Palazzo Morando in Milano's fashion district- via Sant'Andrea.

Tealight holder by Zava Design

I also got my very own one! :) The foldable piece of metal which you can see in my hand is the tealight holder actually. A bit of manual skills.. and done! :))

If you got thirsty after an exciting design tour, you could... MAKE YOUR OWN SODA! Yes! :))
Thanks to the SodaStream you could turn a regular tap water into something special. Whether with syrup or without any additives, it was a pure fun to 'produce' it yourself ;)
You can obviously choose the colors of the machine's components, depending on the style of your kitchen.

You just basically fill the bottle with the water, put it into the machine and press. After a few seconds you have your own fizzy drink. If you prefer a flavoured one, you can choose from a variety of syrups. You put the cap with a flavoured liquid on top of the bottle, press it for a second and let the things happen ;)

Et voil脿! Your own soda water is ready! :)) + you don't have to carry heavy bottles of water + you waste less plastic <-- you are eco-friendly

Milan is a dynamic city which gives many possibilities to enjoy your life, get to know new things and spend the time in a friendly, Italian atmosphere. I can highly recommend coming here! :))

What to do during the Milan Fashion Week if you're not (yet ;)) a star?

From free hairstyles to Armani aperitivo...

You don't have to be a star or a celebrity to enjoy the Fashion Week. There's a bunch of opportunities you can take to get into the positive mood of the event.

While most of the events require you to have an invitation to participate, these ones DON'T...

This year (as well as the previous one and hopefully the next one) thanks to the Testanera booth, located near Milano's Piazza Duomo, you could get a free hairstyle.
First you were getting a ticket and then you had to wait for your turn...

The wait could take even an hour, but it was no big deal, because... meanwhile you could go to the ClassEditori booth!
And there you could get a wide range of magazines- the ones for women or men, in Italian or in Japanese...

The staff was providing guests with the coffee.

You could just sit back, relax and enjoy a nice reading and a traditional Italian espresso or just take the magazines with you.

If you got a bit hungry after an exciting day, you could go to Armani Hotel in via Manzoni 31 and enjoy a nice aperitivo in the restaurant on the 7th floor. For the price of €15 you could get a glass of Franciacorta Ca' del Bosco Vintage Collection Sat猫n 2009 and delicious snacks- including:
1) Candied green apple, walnuts, "puntarelle" with pomegranate
2) Beetroot Vialone Nano risotto, Gorgonzola cheese, juniper
3) Veal "Pops" with black truffle pat猫, white flower

I can honestly recommend you coming to Milan during the Fashion Week and discovering it yourself :))

Milan Fashion Week 2014- summary (Meissen Couture, Vogue Italia, La Perla, Giambattista Valli)

When a year ago (22.03.13 to be more precise ;) btw I still remember that day as if it was yesterday!) I got to know that I'm going to Milano, I got so excited that somehow I was focusing all my attention on everything related to Milan. That's why I fell in love with Fashion TV :)
I was wondering... How is it like to be in Milano during the fashion events? What is the feel to be a part of it?
I can tell you with the happiness that... now I know :)

After Grazia International Cocktail Party, I took part in a bunch of fashion events. And I loved it! :D
OK, OK, let's get started...

One of my favourite ones was an event hosted by Meissen Couture and Vogue Italia. The Meissen Couture Fall/Winter 2014/2015 Collection was presented in the famous Villa Meissen in Via Montenapoleone 3. Frida Weyer, the head designer created a sparkling collection, inspired by the 1920s to late 1930s, when life was celebrated above all else. It is to be said that the creations were 眉ber-femine and flowing. The color palette was minimalist, with beiges, subtle blush tones and champagne shades taking the major part of it. But don't get the wrong impression. It wasn't monotonous at all! Blackberry and alluring black were a lively accent to the collection. There was also a huge variety of the materials. Chiffon, cr锚pe and organza among them...

The hairstyles with side-parting and a glossy finish inspired by Hollywood divas were a bullseye, emphasising the sophisticated look of the georgeous models.

Exposed shoulders as the metaphor of the strength of woman- a leader and seducer

Thare's also meee ;)

It was a really fun experience :))

The jewellery launched by Meissen Couture is a symbol of a superior quality which characterises the 300 year old heritage of the art and luxury handcraft house; an interpretation of history and culture.

Later that day I also went for the re-opening of the flagship boutique of La Perla in Via Montenapoleone, but due to the fact that I spent most of time at the Meissen Couture event, I didn't have much time to enjoy it. Among the guests there was Maricarla Boscono, who is one of the faces of the f/w 2014 campaigne, and also a fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni (the Blonde Salad).
The new boutique was designed by famous architect, Roberto Baciocchi!
Here's a quick overview:

Talking about the Fashion Week I cannot omit the opening of the first boutique of Italian designer, Giambattista Valli in the Quadrilatero della Moda, considered by many experts (Vogue among them) as one of the most important fashion districts in the world. The author of the design concept for the store was Luigi Scialanga, the architect of the two Parisian boutiques of Giambattista Valli.

The boutique allows the clients to order custom-made Giambattista Valli bags as well as the shoes!

I'm really thankful that I could take part in these events and I can't wait for the next ones :))

All the best! xx
